MOUNT Gambier Golf Club’s current women’s club champion Kerry Pedlar continued her solid form with a win in Round 2 of the Summer Cup last week.

Playing off a 10 handicap, Pedlar completed the stableford round with a score of 39 points to claim the Division 1 honours.

Pedlar faced plenty of opposition from a field of 39 golfers in favourable conditions, with nine playing to their handicaps or better.

Her 80 off the stick included a birdie on the sixth hole, plus an impressive 11 pars.

As a result, the next game she plays off single figures for the first time.

Leanne Hunt finished runner-up with 38 points after surviving a count-back from Di Norman.

Her splits of 18/20 included just the one wipe, with seven three-pointers.

Lorraine Bruhn won Division 2 with a score of 40 points off her 38 handicap.

Her consistent golf returned splits of 21 and 19.

An excited Lizzie Clements was relegated to second place on a count-back after also returning to the clubhouse with 40 points off a 45 handicap.

Nine players received a ball in the ball run-down – Di Norman, Jill Johnson, Andrea Pegler, Jennifer Van Rijthoven, Heather Barry, Lorraine Stratford, Jan Shanahan, Lyn Hudson and Carol Davis.

The specialty prizes were given out to the players who had the best points on the front nine and they were A Grade’s Norman with 21 points, Vicki Clark with 18 points Clements with 22.

The pro shot on the par 3 eighth hole went to Norman.

Meanwhile, 22 women played a stableford round on Saturday in perfect conditions, with a few tricky pin placements to add some challenges.

Conquering the course in easy fashion was 24-handicapper Camilla Knowles, who has been away on a long break from golf but returned in style with a very consistent round of 44 points, with splits of 22/22.

Knowles had no wipe-outs for a legitimate 89 off the stick, her best career score.

On the par 5 17th hole she carded a birdie, along with five pars overall.

Second place went to 14-handicapper Helen Gregory, ahead of Carol Davis on a count-back.

Both players had splits of 21/18 for their 39 points and the count-back came down to the last three holes.

Gregory registered 8 pars on her card.
