IN the midweek stroke competition at the Blue Lake Golf Course on Tuesday, Garry Fox blazed through the field with a superb round of 74-12-62.
Fox was reeling off three birdies in his round.
He even found time to throw in a couple of double bogeys, turning with a 38 off the stick.
All he needed was a simple bogey or better to shoot under par, a personal best for Fox.
Unfortunately, he found the trees on the right and then the bunker on the left before scrambling a six.
Closest to catching Fox was Brett Lewis.
After a solid opening 40, Lewis was performing well on the inward nine, including an unexpected birdie on the 12th hole to set himself up for a tilt at the win.
However, he scored a triple bogey on the 17th hole, costing him any chance of a win.
His round of 83-15-68 was still good enough to reel in second place.
John Millhouse banked third place with his 69, holding off Trevor Finnis in a count-back.
Millhouse came in with a neat 39 which included a double bogey on the 10th hole while Finnis scored a triple bogey on the last hole which cost him the count-back.
Finnis leads the list of ball winners which included Graeme Anderson, Trevor McLean, Stephen Von Duve, Daniel Christian, Colin Stratford, Jim Ferrazzola and Ben Wilson.
Fox made it a clean sweep for the day, adding the pro shot competition and novelty prizes to his list of achievements.
