Blue Lake swimmers take medals

TEAM EFFORT: Coach Phil Lowe, Haydn Lowe, Hayley Pearson, Keira Flowers, Nicholas and Thomas Bignell, Aleisha and Mikayla Pearson and Darcy and Maggie Hodges.

A TEAM of nine Blue Lake Y Swim Club swimmers competed at the 2022 SA Country Championships in Renmark over four days.

The team collected a total of 30 medals, including three overall medals.

There were many impressive personal best times and multiple swims in finals over the course of the meet.

Haydn Lowe, Mikayla Pearson and Darcy Hodges, who competed at her first Countries, had multiple swims in finals.

Maggie Hodges competed in Superfish, her first meet ever and was the third fastest girl in 50m Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle in the eight and under age group.

Thomas Bignell managed to take 45.81 seconds off his personal best in the 1500m freestyle event, Haydn Lowe took off 18.03 seconds his personal best in the 200m Freestyle, Darcy Hodges took 14.92 seconds off her personal best in 100m Freestyle, Mikayla Pearson took 10.65 seconds off her personal best in 100m Butterfly and Flowers took 10.57 seconds off her personal best in the 200m Individual Medley.

For those who are interested in attending, there will be free Come and Try sessions on Monday nights during the school term.
