Blue Lake golf wraps up for Christmas

THE Blue Lake Golf Club women enjoyed a stableford competition last week, with Cherryl Hill topping the leaderboard in Division 1 with 39 points with several others not far behind.

Hill, off a handicap of 24 was able to complete her round without any scrubs.

Her scorecard showed six three-pointers, including pars on the fifth and 13th holes to have 92 gross equating to 39 points.

Chasing Hill were Lesley McPherson and Lynda Nannings, both signing for 37 points to create a count-back, which went McPherson’s way with a better back nine score.

With splits of 17/20 including two scrubs, seven three-pointers were her saving grace.

It was McPherson’s first outing in Division 1, now on a 29 handicap.

On her second week back in Division 1, Nannings, off a 28 handicap, was on a roll, scoring on every hole for 98 gross.

Splits of 19/18, with pars on the fifth and 16th holes and four three-pointers saw her finish with 37 points.

Carol Melhuish claimed Division 2 with 38 points, well clear of the other competitors.

Her card showed two wipeouts, a par on the 16th hole and five three-pointers for splits of 17/21.

Second place went to Jo Gogan off a handicap of 32, who had splits of 16/18 that included three wipeouts but was able to have five three-pointers and a massive four points on the par three 16th hole to sign for 34 points.

Secretary Vivienne Wilson took third prize with 32 points that included three three-pointers off a 36 handicap.

Nearest to pin second shot winners on the par 3 14th hole were Fiona Punton from Division 1 and Carol Melhuish from Division 2.

Pro-shot winner was Josie Ashby.

Birdie winners were Ashby on the first hole and Lyn Gill on the fifth.
