Burgoyne claims 100-up

THE Robe Bowling Club’s Men’s 100-up sponsored by Matt’s Plumbing was completed last week with Dean Burgoyne winning the final against Errol Jennings 104-88.

The Robe Community Bank Corporate Bowls was played in cold conditions but with plenty of laughs and good spirits.

Winners for the night were Sea Vu Caravan Park on 18 points, 9 shots up, with Robetown Motor Inn runner-up on 18-6.

Social bowls was sponsored by the Robe Caledonian Inn, with two two-game winners.

Ali Douglas and Craig Dean claimed the honours on 56 points, ahead of Steve Farrell and Paul Truelove with 54.

Friday’s Pennants saw both Division 2 and 3 have good wins at home.

In Division 2 Robe 83 shots 8 points easily accounted for Mount Gambier 33-0.

Mount Gambier found it difficult to handle the windy conditions after playing their matches under cover.

Bronwyn Matthews’ team in her first game as skipper had an eight and scored over 50 shots.

Kerrie Boyd, Helen Lynch, Valma Jennings and Bronwyn 56 shots to Janelee Calleja’s team nine shots.

Robyn Dahler, Pam Robinson, Helen Dawson and Judy Bermingham defeated Beryl Versluis’s team in a close up-and-down encounter 27-24.

Division 3 saw Robe 64-8 defeat Lucindale 34-0.

Lorraine and Ross Dening, Tracey Gray and Ann Moore defeated Cheryl Furguson’s team 35-12, while Nesla Boundy, Clare DeLaine, Barbara Brown and Jan Fisk defeated Ana Sharman’s team 29-22.

Saturday’s Open Pennant saw both Robe teams playing at Mount Gambier RSL.

In Division 1 Robe 81-10 defeated RSL Blue 63-2.

Pat Lynch, Peter DeLaine, Dean Burgoyne and David Robinson defeated Wayne Legutko’s team 31-15, Peter Gregory, Stephen Kennett, Glenn Wright and Harold Manton lost to Ron Ploenges team 21-37, while Errol Jennings, Rob Lawrie, Ken Smith and Peter Roachock defeated Strawb Master’s team 29-11.

In Division 3 Mount Gambier RSL 77-12 defeated Robe 65-0.

Ian Moulden’s team defeated Dean Woodwards team 29-23, David O’Donnell’s team defeated Deane Nankivell’s team 22-21 and Joy Bilney’s team defeated Ali Douglas’s team 26-21.

Errol Jennings, Paul Truelove, Ken Smith and Pat Lynch had a strong two-day carnival at Port MacDonnell with three wins and a draw.
