TOP PERFORMERS: Winner Carol Davies, third Lorraine Bruhn, second Maxine McGregor.

THE Attamurra golf course was presented in immaculate condition last week for a mid-week stableford competition.

The calm and pleasant conditions attracted 27 women, with Carol Davies claiming top position after a score of 38 points off her 19 handicap rating.

Her splits were 17/21, with four three-point holes on the back nine and only one wipeout on the eighth.

Maxine McGregor was close behind, unfortunate to lose on a count-back.

Her score of 23 points on the front nine included a birdie on the short par 3 eighth hole.

However, three wipes halted her run and she scored 15 points on the difficult back nine.

Lorraine Bruhn claimed third place after an impressive front nine of 21 points, chalking-up four points on the second hole, with splits of 21/15.

Five balls were given out in the ball run down and went to Heather Chapman, Helen Heaver, Andrea Pegler, Marie Douglas and Lyn Hudson.

The pro shot on the eighth hole McGregor earning herself three balls.

The second shot on the par 5 17th hole prizes went to A Grade’s Bernie Jennings, B Grade’s Jeannette Braun and C Grade’s McGregor.

Meanwhile on a cold and windy day 20 women participated in a stableford competition last Saturday.

Having a good game of golf and taking first place was Yvonne Shirley with 40 points.

Shirley had consistent front and back nines of 20/20.

No wipe-outs on her card, one four-point hole and five three-pointers ensured a comfortable victory.

Bernie Jennings registered 36 points and claimed second place on a count-back from Helen Gregory.

The count-back was so close it went to the last three holes on the back nine where Jennings scored one point better.

Both women had splits of 18/18 points.

The Handicap Match Championship competition quarter-finals were played with some good competition.
