South Gambier 12.7 (79) d Glencoe 1.0 (6)

SOUTH Gambier continued its undefeated run in the 2019-20 Limestone Coast Women’s Football League season, with a big win over Glencoe on Sunday.

All teams headed to Mundulla for round four of the season, with the Demons inflicting a 73-point drubbing on the Murphies.

Much of that came on the back of four goals each from Neave Delaney and Simone MacDonald, with Delaney now clear at the top of the league goal kicking as a result.

The first half of the contest saw Glencoe scoreless, with South adding three goals in each term for a big 39-point advantage at the long break.

The Murphies added their only score in the third term with a goal to Casey Sampson, while the Demons simply continued the onslaught, with two goals in the third and a further four in the final stanza.

Delaney and MacDonald were joined by Tia Haines, Tess Andrews, Claudia Edmonds and Toneya Carraill with single goals.

Best for the victors were Haines, Chelsea Frost, Andrews, Georgia Irvine, Edmonds and Emma MacDonald.

Best for Glencoe were Sarah Edwards, Shelby Auld, Donna Jaeschke, Nicolle Orr, Laura Edwards and Jade Longbottom.

The league now has a break over the Christmas period, with play to resume at Kalangadoo on Sunday, February 9, 2020.

Millicent 6.5 (41) d North Gambier 1.2 (8)

MILLICENT added its third win of the 2019-20 Limestone Coast women’s football season with a solid result over the struggling North Gambier.

The game started relatively even, with the Tigers kicking one minor score, while the Saints added a major.

However, Millicent pushed on from there, although with somewhat of a struggle.

The second term produced one more major score for the Saints, along with a behind, with the Tigers showing plenty of defensive grit.

Both sides scored a goal in the third term, but North was unable to reduce the deficit.

In the final quarter the Saints broke away, with three goals to ice the game.

All six Millicent goals came as singles from Courtney Pond, Courtney Featherstone, Madi Turner, Emma Slape, Kelsie Wilkinson and Madi Thwaites.

Lorelle Walker kicked North’s only goal.

Best for the victors were Turner, Thwaites, Heidi Clark, Wilkinson, Sarah Fabris and Slape.

Best for North were Carly Ploenges, Piper Killick, Nashemia McNamara, Walker, Maria-Lina Tralongo and Kirra Schultz.

Penola 8.6 (54) d Kongorong 1.2 (8)

PENOLA’S women footballers are celebrating after chalking up their first win of the 2019-20 Limestone Coast Women’s Football League season.

The Eagles have struggled this season, but put that behind them to claim a comfortable victory over new side Kongorong in round four at Mundulla on Sunday.

It was in fact a dominant result, with Kongorong kept scoreless in the opening half, while Penola banged on two majors in the first quarter, then followed up with another four in the second term to lead by 39 points at the long break.

But rather than rest on their laurels, the Penola girls pushed on, with another two majors to close out the second half, while Kongorong managed to add a solitary goal in the third term.

The exciting thing for the Eagles was the goals were shared around, with Shandeen Balshaw, Angela Broad and Shakayla Summerhayes bagging two each.

Alexandria Ey and Karmel Finch added one each.

Best players for the victors were Ey, Broad, Balshaw, Amanda Wurst and Sally Skeer.

Taylor Cozzi kicked the only Konrogong goal and was awarded first best, joined by Sarah Lucas, Samantha Loughhead, Hannah Kuhl-Miller, Jemma Heraper and Janita Galloway.

Kybybolite 13,12 (90 d Kalangadoo 0.0 (0)

KYBYBOLITE continued its unbeaten run with a stinging 90-point victory over Kalangadoo in round four of Limestone Coast women’s football on Saturday.

Played at Mundulla, Kyby was simply too strong in all areas, not allowing Kalangadoo to bother the scorers at all.

The opening term set the scene, with three majors scores and one minor score on the board.

Kyby continued that trend in the second quarter with another three majors, then upped the work rate in the third to add a further four goals.

Three final-quarter goals capped off a huge result, but it could have been far worse for the Magpies, as Kyby kicked 12 minor scores along the way.

Della Hannaford led the way with four goals, while Holy Hannaford chipped in with two.

Hayley Smart, Hayley Sellars, Tyler Atkinson, Lauren Sandercock, Sophie Hentschke, Ella Jones and Mykaela Walker all contributed one goal each.

The victors were best served by Atkinson, Susannah Maber, Hentschke, Parker Lees and Sophie Ford.

Kalangadoo’s best were Jamie Ryan, Anthea Patterson, Nicole Reeves, Taysha James, Jamee Ryan and Jessica Blackmore.

Mundulla 8.7 (55) d Casterton Sandford 1.5 (11)

MUNDULLA used its home ground to good effect on Sunday to claim a big win round four of Limestone Coast women’s football.

Despite an even first term, with 1.1-7 to the victors and a minor score to the Cats, Mundulla was relentless, building on that early lead in the second quarter with a further three major scores, to the Cats’ solitary goal.

It was all Mundulla from there, with the Cats only able to add a further minor score after the long break, while three final-quarter goals iced the game for the victors.

Tegan Roberts led the way with three goals for Mundulla, followed by Brooke Ballinger with two, while Emily Moxon, Lucy Murch and Ally Wendelborn added one each.

Best for the victors were Natalie Twidgen, Roberts, Melody Maddern, Zoe Hawker, Lauren Tink and Wendelborn.

Shelby Nolte kicked Casterton Sandford’s only goal, while best players went to Carlie Smith, Emma Lynch, Erin Munroe, Erin Horsnell, Nolte and Scarlett Jarrad.
