ROBE 38 d TANTANOOLA 34

HISTORICALLY Robe and Tantanoola have always turned it on in Mid South East netball and the Good Friday fixture was no exception.

Both teams started a bit shaky, missing goals at both ends, but Tantanoola moved in to the first break with the upper hand and a four-goal lead.

Robe made changes at the first quarter break, with Georgia Perkins moving in to goal shooter and Kimberley Austin back to the court at goal keeper.

The domination in the defence ring was evident straight away, with Austin holding the space in the circle to make it easy for the speedy Lucy Perkins to pick up any loose balls and head down court.

Tantanoola’s defence of Kate Bromley and Georgia Clarke also lifted to make use of any poor passing into the ring by Robe’s attack.

With the ball still moving from end to end, both defences worked hard and pushed goalies to the limit.

Robe’s Ash Hunt was on target and by the end of the quarter was strong and confident in goals, converting at 100pc for the term.

Tantanoola’s Jami Walker was the focal point in attack, also converting and moving well.

Robe won the quarter 11-8, with just one goal the difference heading into half time.

Tantanoola made changes bringing Bri Scanlon into centre, moving Olivia Fuller from goals to defence and Vic Lucas from centre into goals.

The third quarter was much the same, with the game swinging from end to end and minimal scoring from both sides.

Robe’s Annie Hunter was fast and moved the ball well down court with Lucy Perkins, which made it hard for Kristy Varcoe to get any touches at wing defence.

Casey Walker was shut down at wing attack for Tantanoola, with Robe’s Camille Tucker on top.

The final quarter saw Tantanoola make more changes to try and get one up on Robe, but the Roosters took the next step up and played a controlled quarter, looking after the ball and slowing the game when needed.

Robe won the last quarter 9-5 to claim the win by four goals.

Best players for Robe were Hunter and Hunt, with Walker and Bromley best for Tantanoola.
