WOMEN’S footballers will flock to Malseed Park on Sunday for round two of the Limestone Coast competition, with the fixture providing plenty of intrigue.

A meeting between South Gambier and Glencoe will open proceedings, with the former heading into the match as the favourite.

The Demons had a dominant win over Casterton Sandford last week and will aim to maintain its faultless record.

Glencoe went down to Kalangadoo by 15 points and will be hungry for a win.

But if Kendell Saffin and Jasmine White can fire in front of goal again, South will be hard to beat.

Game two will see a clash between two win-less teams, as North Gambier goes head-to-head with Casterton Sandford.

Both the Tigers and the Cats struggled last week and their meeting on Sunday will be an interesting one.

North will hope to find the big sticks, after it posted just one minor score against Millicent last round.

The Cats on the other hand managed two goals against 2017 premiers South and will look to build against the Tigers.

For North the likes of Ella Firth and Sarah Pilven will lead the hunt, while Casterton Sandford’s Kate Tomkins will be one to watch.

Another intriguing match-up is the 1pm game between East Gambier and Penola.

The Bulldogs were unable to keep up with Mundulla’s pace last week, but showed promise, while the Eagles soared over West Gambier/Port MacDonnell to win their debut game.

Neave Delaney was the dominant presence in front of the East goals, with three majors to her name, while Penola’s Angela Broad tore open the Roos’ defence to bang through five.

The two will hope to add to their season tallies on Sunday.

Probably the most anticipated match of the day is that between Mundulla and reigning premiers Kybybolite.

Mundulla showed it meant business in the season opener, with a solid win over the Bulldogs.

It will be out to test its metal against its fellow Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara club.

Kybybolite is yet to play this season, after the rescheduled opening round game and a bye on the weekend.

The 2018 premiers will hope for a strong start to their title defence, but Mundulla is sure to provide a challenge.

Millicent will again close out the day’s proceedings and may well do so in another convincing manner.

A 71-point win over North last round will give the Saints confidence when they hit the park against West Gambier/Port MacDonnell, who struggled against Penola last week.

The Roos will have the home-ground advantage, but that may not be enough as Millicent looks to improve on its runner-up status from 2018.
