EITHER side can win in the tight Barber Shield clash between West Gambier and South Gambier which will resume tomorrow at Malseed Park.

The Demons hold a slender advantage at an overnight score of 1/19 in pursuit of the Roos’ 163 total set in day one.

Adam Kuhl (8) and Dylan Clough (10) will be the first two batsmen at the crease after they batted out a tricky 14-over period last week.

The pair will look to build steady top order stands to ensure no quick wickets impact the South run chase.

With the likes of Clough, Josh Thompson, Mitchell Sims and Robert Drenthen, the Demons have plenty of firepower at their disposal.

However, the nightmares of last round’s weak performance of 41 against North Sportsman’s may play on the minds of South batsmen, who will be desperate to prove they are not prone to such poor performances.

West Gambier will be on the hunt to take early wickets tomorrow, which are vital for its chances of a win on home soil.

If the Roos fail to do so, their victory hopes would drift further away, but if they can find the stumps it will re-open South’s recent batting scars and allow West to dictate the match.

Opening bowler Sam Willis was the only man who could strike a blow last week when he found a way through the defence of Luke Zadow.

Willis will pose as the biggest threat with ball in hand and will have strong support from Richard Crute, Josh Cornollo and Ben Hentschke.

Scoring runs proved to be difficult last week and will likely continue to be tomorrow with heavy scoreboard pressure to contend with.

The first hour will be crucial in deciding the result of a clash which could still go either way.
