Ready to set sail

ACTION SET TO RETURN: The Port MacDonnell Sailing Club is set to return to the water, with a working bee tomorrow in preparation for the new season.

THE Port MacDonnell sailing club is gearing up for another year on the water, with a working bee set down for tomorrow from 9am.

With a few planned jobs there will always to something to do for anybody who is interested in heading down to meet with the members and committee before getting back on the water.

Saturday, October 27 will see a cruise on the Glenelg river leaving from the Nelson boat ramp at midday and motoring up to Sandy Waterhole for a BYO barbecue tea, which is another opportunity to see some of the fleet and chat with club members about an interest in sailing and the club’s activities.

The club actively encourages new members or those who have an interest in the sport to head along to see what happens on race day.

Apart from owning a boat and sailing in the club competitions, there are opportunities to crew for other boats, help out on the rescue boat, help to set the weekly course, or even timing back at the clubhouse.

The club has a social base, with a broad range of members, with families from all different walks of life.

Saturday November 3 will be the opening day for the club on the water, with the clubhouse open from 10am and racing to start from 1pm out in the bay.

New club Commodore Morris Dickins has the privilege of being officer of the day for both races.
