THE K&S Fuels Footballer-of-the-Week goes to a player who did something special, reached a milestone or was maybe one of the most influential in the Western Border league for that given week.

In the split round over the last two weeks there was no shortage of players standing up, with the results testament to the solid individual performances.

The round saw bags of goals kicked, with West Gambier’s Tom Zeitz topping the list with six, Casterton Sandford’s Callum Currie and Tynan Shannon with five each, while Millicent’s Matt Duldig broke out with four goals in an impressive display up forward.

In all three games the running style of play was on display, with the Cats still showing all-comers a clean pair of heels, while the Roos have certainly clicked, with coach Brad Wilson and the returning Tom Holmes having a major impact through the middle of the ground.

The Saints have been just as impressive, showing a lot of dash against the reigning premiers to run away with the game.

The likes of Hamish Gordon and Lyndon Smith have joined the ever-reliable Tom Hutchesson – along with a multitude of others – to provide plenty of run through the middle.

However, this week’s award goes to a young rising star who was impressive in the first week of the split round.

Young Demon Kaleb Bowd had the job of closing down Cats coach Hamish Jarrad – no small task given Jarrad’s ability around the ground.

Bowd took to the job with gusto and was so effective at his job he received praise from the Cats coach after the game.
