MITCHELL Handford returned the round-of-the-day at the Attamurra golf course on Saturday, posting a nett 66 after the 11-marker shot 77 off-the-stick.

The stroke round was the first of two qualifiers for the men’s club championship.

Ron Walker and Kevin Cook posted nett 68’s with Setio Shanahan and Simon Tulak rounding out the top five with nett 69’s.

Handford won B Grade by four from Russell Oehms on nett 70, while Cook’s 68 won A Grade by one from Shanahan.

Tulak took the C Grade voucher by two from Stephen Herbert on nett 71, while in D Grade Ron Walker’s 68 was two better than Peter Gardener on nett 70.

Kerry Pedlar took the pro shot on the 16th hole and rolled in the putt for a birdie-two, while shot-of-the-day belonged to Christine Galpin.

Club Championships

SUNDAY saw the final round of club championship qualifying as windy conditions greeted the 50-strong field.

Players across four grades competed, with the top eight from each grade qualifying to continue into the match-play section of the championships.

Sunday’s best round was 71 by reigning club champion Daryl Morgan, which ensured he would qualify as number one in A Grade.

Mitchell Handford has beaten all but seven A Graders at the club to claim the eighth spot and will now face Morgan in the quarter finals.

All quarter and semi-finals will be on April 8, with times available on the website, Facebook or through the pro-shop.
