Golf: Course awash with pink

COLOUR FOR A CAUSE: The Blue Lake Golf Club was awash with various shades of pink last Wednesday as the women participated in the annual Pink Day to raise funds for cancer.

THE Blue Lake Golf Club course was awash with shades of pink last Wednesday as the women participated in the annual Pink Day to raise money and awareness of various cancers, specifically breast cancer.

Competition fees were donated on the day along with over $700 in further donations.

The weather conditions were mild and created a fun atmosphere.

Helen Stratford won Division 1 after facing a count-back from Dianne Perryman, both carding 32 points.

Annette Ford claimed third place after a three-way count-back from vice captain Helen Myers and Josie Ashby, all carding 30 points.

Ashby was the nearest the pin winner.

Division 2’s senior veteran Carleen Laslett showed the “younger” brigade how it is done, posting 37 points after another three-way count-back from Carol Megaw and Bev Pascoe.

Lyn Gill, four shots back on 33, won a ball for nearest the pin.

The pro-shot winner on the par three, fifth hole was Rose Case.

March 21: Monthly medal, second round of the Captain’s trophy, second and final qualifying round of the handicap championships.

March 28: Quarter finals of the handicap championships (18 holes par for non-qualifiers).

March 31/April 1: GEM Easter Tournament.
