Tennis: South East seniors hit the road

LUCKY IN LUCINDALE: Leanne Watson, Marg Moffatt, Bill Chapman, Kathy Pfeiffer, Alan Schultz, Elsie Grobler, Ray Rossiter, John Owens made up the winners and runners-up for the South East Tennis and Murray Bridge annual cup challenge at Lucindale on Sunday.

THE South East Tennis Seniors travelled to Lucindale on Sunday, with 18 players participating in a tennis challenge with nine Murray Bridge competitors.

The Annual Challenge Cup was won by Murray Bridge for its second year running.

In the men’s competition, Millicent’s Bill Chapman and Murray Bridge’s Ray Rossiter were the winners on the day, while Millicent’s Alan Schultz and Murray Bridge’s John Owens filled the runners-up positions.

Mount Gambier’s Marg Moffatt was a winner for the women, as was Murray Bridge’s Elsie Grobler, with Murray Bridge’s Kathy Pfeiffer and Naracoorte’s Leanne Watson the runners-up.

The raffle winners at the event were Bronwyn Neill, Steve Biggins and John Davidson, in first, second and third respectively.

The next event will be held at Beachport on March 18 at 11am.
