CHAMPION EFFORT: Mount Gambier RSL Bowling Club’s Andy Ashby has claimed his third Club Championship Singles title after his final clash with Gary Feast last Friday.

ANDY Ashby has been crowned as club champion for the 2017-18 season after he claimed his third championship singles title for the Mount Gambier RSL Bowling Club last Friday evening.

Ashby qualified for the final after he defeated Rex Heins, Jamie Lambert, Deane Wilkinson and Dougie McPhail, with his final hurdle in the form of Gary Feast.

Feast also had a tough draw on his way to the decider, as he overcame Neil Tobin, John Maher, Graeme Smith and Ralph Stafford.

The final clash saw Feast put up a good fight, with him in front for several ends before the mastery of Ashby took over.

Bowling with trademark touch and consistency, Ashby soon had Feast under pressure.

It was an entertaining spectacle for the many members present who marvelled at Ashby’s skill and willed on his gallant opponent.

Ashby will now contest the Champion of Champions at Millicent on Saturday, March 17.
