Archery: Blue Lake Archers refine accuracy

A PERFECT day for archery greeted the Blue Lake Archers on Sunday afternoon, with the light breeze and warm conditions allowing the archers to refine their accuracy enabling two new personal bests to be claimed.

A World archery 60/900 round covers three of the distances required for January’s tournament round and this, combined with the excellent conditions, allowed the archers a perfect opportunity to fine tune sights and technique.

Ben Kilsby and David Cross are the club’s highest ranked archers in off-the-bow performance and as always were keen to see which of the two would take home the bragging rights.

Just two points separated the pair at the end of the day, with Kilsby prevailing on this occasion.

New personal best scores for Freeman and Bayley set the scene for a close showdown for the pair that have been dominating the club’s handicap score results in the latter half of 2017.

The round has a handicap benchmark of 900 points and Freeman passed that by five points to claim the day’s win, ahead of Bayley by 10 points.

The contest was relatively close across the board as the point spread of the adjusted score of the first five archers was a paltry 30 points.
