Shooting: Kent a step above other champions

BEST OF THE BEST: Jeremy Kent out-classed his opposition at the recent South East Field and Game champion of champions event, as he only dropped a single target to be crowned the 2017 champion.

THROUGHOUT 2017 the South East Field and Game monthly high gun winners qualify for the end of year Champion of Champions shoot-off.

This year’s competition was held at the recent SE Field and Game Christmas event at Burrungule Park and saw Jeremy Kent claim the title.

The 2016 winner and course-setter Ken Atkin set 24 challenging targets over an old style sporting layout to test the skills of the 10 competitors, six of which were from the South East and four from Western Victoria.

Each competitor took their turn to shoot the clay targets from the four traps over the four-pad layout and the pressure was on to be accurate.

Jamie Dunn, Gavin Dyson and Danny Bellinger all finished with 22/24, but it was not enough to prevent Kent from rounding off a stellar season of competition.

He only dropped one target on the day and took out the honours with an impressive 23/24.
