LSEBA: Blue day at home – Port MacDonnell unable to secure win

Division 1

Mount Gambier RSL Blue 73/14 d Port MacDonnell 66/2

PORT MacDonnell’s Division 1 Open Pennant team welcomed Mount Gambier RSL Blue to its home greens on Saturday.

With a win on one rink, the Bay could not push over the line for the overall victory.

Adam Wilson’s rink went down to Strawb Masters 14-28, while Chris Richards’ four finished down by two shots to Ron Ploenges and his team.

The highlight of the day saw Marcus Pietersma’s rink claim a 25-16 win, but it was not enough for the points.

Division 2

Port MacDonnell 76/16 d Penola 51/0

THE Division 2 team played Penola on Saturday, where it won on all three rinks.

Carol and Barrie Schmidt, Kel Butler and Bart Lethlean played Don Kilsby, Peter Marshall, Rex Williams and Mick Mitchell for a 22-17 win.

With scores level throughout the day, Port MacDonnell was able to get its nose in front at the right time to claim the victory.

Rod Sutton, Don Forbes, Kevin Henderson and Ron Cox took on Jack Cunam, John Davidson, Justin Robbie and Scott Degenhardt and finished the match with a 23-18 win.

The final rink saw Bruce Bain, Robin Bilney, Reg Fisher and Bob Hutchesson play Naomi Vaughan, Ken Batt, Peter Starrick and Pete Thompson.

The Bay team was down after the 13th end, but came home strong to score 17 shots in five ends to lead well and go on to win 31-16.

Division 3

Mount Gambier RSL Red 75/14 d Port MacDonnell 54/2

DIVISION 3 was home to Mount Gambier RSL Red on Saturday.

With a win on only one rink, the final score was in the favour of the guests, with Port MacDonell unable to secure the points for the round.

Division 4 Blue

Lucindale 48/12 d Port MacDonnell 47/2

PORT MacDonnell’s Division 4 Blue side made the trip to Lucindale for Round 10 of the Open Pennant competition.

At the end of the day, a draw for Cheryle Doddridge’s rink and a one-shot loss to Val Praetz’s four saw the Bay return home empty handed.
