Golf: Ferrazola victorious again

ANOTHER WIN: Frank Pinneri congratulates Jim Ferrazola on his second win in a month at the Blue Lake Golf Links.

JIM Ferrazola claimed his second win of the month on Saturday at the Blue Lake Golf Club, with a blistering nett 61 in the stroke round.

In A Grade it was left hander Zeick Dalton who returned to Saturday golf in style with an impressive round of one-over par 69-6-63 nett to account for visiting Port MacDonnell member John

Howard, who finished second on a count-back on 76-11-65.

Rounding out the placings was Michael Egan, with a score of 78-13-65 nett.

Stephen Von Duve continues to shine since he returned to golf and needed a count-back to claim the B grade victory with a round of 85-22-63 nett, followed by an unlucky Michael Jazepczyk with a score of 81-18-63.

In third place was David Johnston, three shots back on 89-23-66, also on a count-back.

New member Gordon Parry matched the round of the day with an excellent round of 86-25-61 nett, but had to be content with a grade win as he claimed C Grade from Victor J. Smith who compiled a round of 89-26-63.

One shot further back was life member Gavin Sparrow returning with a score of 98-34-64 nett.

Ball run down winners were Tim Bates, Josh Gale, Tony Steen (65), Geoff Munt, Richard Kuhn, Tony Morandin, David McKenzie, Fred Knight, Brett Perryman and Colin Rex (66).

Pro-shot winners were David Goldspring on the fifth hole and Brett Perryman on the 16th, with the pair receiving four balls each for their efforts.

The least putts went to Sam Letizia, nearest the pins to Terry Earl on the second hole and Richard Kuhn on the 14th, while long drives were claimed by A Grade’s John Howard, B Grade’s Robert Lindner and C Grade’s John Robertson.

Marlene Lingham won the women on 67 nett from Bev Pascoe (68) and Annette Ford (70).

Lingham was nearest to pin, Ford had the best back nine, while Carol Megaw had the least putts.

The hole in one cash jackpot is $1000.

Tuesday competition

THE regular midweek golfers made light work of the course Tuesday and none better than Col Tester, who returned with a superb round of nine-up to win easily from playing partner and club captain David Dowie, with an impressive six-up.

In third was Tony Steen, four shots back on two-up after a count-back.

Ball winners were Bruce Grubb two-up, Tim Bates two-up, Wayne Dunford one-up, David Goldspring one-up and Nic Clayton one-up on a count-back.

The best back nine went to Col Stratford, while the pro-shot on the par three fifth hole was taken out by Col Ferguson, who collected four balls for his nearest the pin.

The hole in one voucher jackpot is $1245.

Wednesday daylight savings competition

A FINE day greeted the regular competitors during the daylight savings competition and it was dual golf club member Setio Shanahan who outplayed his fellow women playing partners to return with a winning score of 22 points to defeat Trevor Little on a count-back.

Rounding out the placings was Port MacDonnell’s Ryan Williams, one shot further back, also on a count-back after his 21 points.

Pro-shot winners were Trevor Little on the second hole and Ryan Williams on the fifth, with the pair collecting six balls each.

Shots of the day went Mat Fenwick on the first hole, Josh Ransom (second), Mat Fenwick (third), Bruce Morale (fourth), Ryan Williams (fifth), Mick Carne (sixth), Matt Noonan (seventh), Bruce Morale (eighth) and Mat Fenwick (ninth).

The eagle cash jackpot is now $149.

Christmas ambrose and family fun day

THIS Sunday the Blue Lake Golf Club will host its annual family fun day starting with a nine-hole ambrose, teeing off from 11am.

Players are asked to register from 10am.

Children’s entertainment will begin at 12.30pm with a blow up castle and top putt games on site, along with a visit from Santa after lunch.

Lunch is served from 1pm onwards so members and families are asked to bring along their children and grand children to enjoy the fun.

Names can be placed in Huddy’s Sportsbar on the notice board to help with catering on the day.
