THE Beachport Golf Club women held an ambrose competition last week to close a successful winter season.
Due to the hot weather again, the event was held over nine holes.
Robyn Walters, Julie Howe and Jillyanne Herdman were the winners on the day, with 30.6 points.
They defeated Kaye Best, Rita Mitchell and Janet McArthur who finished in second on 32.5.
Following play a farewell presentation was made to former captain, committee member and a great member of the club, Pat Geraghty.
After lunch Father Christmas paid a visit and handed out the Kris Kringle gifts.
The Chambers Trophy – an aggregate stableford for men – was played on Sunday and it was the pairing of Brian Pennell (38 points) and Daryl Brooks (36 points) who took out the honours with a combined score of 74.
They were closely followed by runners-up Jeff Ellis junior (37) and Wally Altschwager (36) who fell just short on 73 points.
The nearest-the-pin was won by Brian Pennell.
To add to the week’s events, on Friday night the club held its winter season presentations.
