LSEBA: Mount Gambier Red performs

Division 1

Mount Gambier Red 85/16 d Lucindale 48/0

MOUNT Gambier Bowls Club’s Division 1 Red team hosted Lucindale for a win at home on Saturday in Round 7 of the Open Pennant season.

The side recorded a comfortable win, with wins on all rinks.

On the day, Kristy Errock, Terry Bruhn, Brad Errock and Tony Renzi were in fine form to out-play Neil Watts’s four 27-18, while Gary McIntyre, Gary Hocking, Peter Radley and Tony Bowditch held sway all day against Peter McCallum’s team to win 28-16.

Rounding out the day’s victory, Bec Gruar, Bryan Vorwerk, Peter Reppin and Greg Carpenter finished with a solid 30-14 win over Eric Pitt’s team.

Port MacDonnell 76/16 d Mount Gambier Blue 53/0

DIVISION 1 Blue did not find the same luck as its rival Red team, as it lost on all rinks to its determined Port MacDonnell hosts.

Ian Von Stanke and his team could not get over the line as it recorded a 17-22 defeat to Chris Richard’s four, while a similar result saw Jeff England’s side go down to Adam Wilson 18-24.

The final rink saw David Babb suffer at the hands of Marcus Pietersma for an 18-29 defeat.

Division 2

Naracoorte 76/16 d Mount Gambier 47/0

IN Division 2, Mount Gambier travelled to Naracoorte where it came home empty handed.

Losing on all rinks, the guests could not compete with their Round 7 opponents, suffering an overall defeat.

Division 3

Mount Gambier 68/13 d Millicent 66/3

WHEN Mount Gambier’s Division 3 team welcomed Millicent Blue to its greens on Saturday, the result was a tight contest.

In the end, Mount Gambier claimed the win by two shots, after a win and a draw was recorded by both sides.

Mavis Edgecombe, Lindsay Moyle, Rex Klaassens and Margaret Marshall won their game 26-23, while John Kentish drew on his rink with a score of 22-all and George Kuhl went down 20-21.

These close results saw the day go down to the wire, but the home team was able to pull itself across the line.

Division 4

Naracoorte RSL 84/16 d Mount Gambier 50/0

MOUNT Gambier’s Division 4 side made the trip to Naracoorte RSL on Saturday to face its Round 7 opponent.

The day finished with a loss on all rinks for the guests, with the RSL proving too strong on its home greens.
