Drug driver busted on school run

A MOUNT Gambier woman who was dropping three children at school tested positive to methamphetamine when she was stopped by police on Tuesday morning.

The 40-year-old woman was driving on Kromelite Road in Glenburnie when she was stopped at around 9am for a driver screening test.

She returned a positive reading to methamphetamine.

Police observed three young children in the car and as a result, notified the Child Abuse Report Line.

Her sample will be sent to Forensic Science South Australia for further analysis.

Mount Gambier Police stopped another female driver on North Terrace at around 2.30pm.

The 47-year-old woman was submitted to a driver screening test and returned a positive reading of cannabis.

Later that night at around 9.40pm, a 56-year-old Penola man was stopped on Victoria Terrace in Mount Gambier.

The man submitted to a breath test and returned a positive reading of .115.

He lost his licence on the spot for six months and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.

The man will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Limestone Coast highway patrol were hard at work in other parts of the region.

On Monday evening they nabbed a 60-year-old man from Bordertown travelling 52kph in excess of the speed limit.

He was stopped on the Dukes Highway after being clocked at 162kph in a 110kph zone.

The man was fined $1096 and lost his licence on the spot for six months.
