MOUNT Gambier’s Levi Day finished round seven of the British Superstock 1000 season with a credible seventh place at the fast Snetterton circuit in the UK.

It was an impressive return to the track after and accident there last year cut his weekend short after just two laps of racing.

That incident put Day out of action with a broken collarbone, but there was no hint of drama on the weekend.

With just one race to complete on Sunday, Friday was set down for practice, with qualifying on Saturday.

Looking for extra pace, Day tried a couple of different setups on Friday and finished the two sessions in 15th place.

Qualifying threw up its own challenges, as the heavens opened just five minutes before the bikes were ready to hit the track.

Inside the first minute the session was red flagged after and accident saw one bike catch fire.

Qualifying was then delayed until later in the day and by then the track had dried.

Day put in a fast time to start from 11th on the grid in Sunday’s race.

The sun returned on Sunday and Day remained in 11th place for the opening laps.

However, with some consistent times he had moved up to seventh place by lap nine.

From there he struggled to close the margin to the rider ahead and settled for seventh at the chequered flag.

“From where we started the weekend to where we finished were some solid steps forward in both the bike and in my riding,” Day said.

“If I had made the first two laps stronger we may have been able to finish a little higher, but I feel like this was my strongest ride of the year so far.”

Day will now prepare for the next round at Thruxton in August.
