Mount Gambier/ Berrin’s Margaret Pink has been selling Tupperware products to customers in the South East for more than half a century.

She has clocked up 56 years selling the iconic brand and will celebrate her 57th in November.

Ms Pink is the longest serving agent in South Australia and the second in Australia, with an agent in New South Wales working for the brand for 60 years.

Born in November 1943, Ms Pink has lived in Mont Gambier/ Berrin all her life, apart from spending two years in Lucindale.

She was educated at Wehl Street School and vividly remembered walking from there on the opening day of Reidy Park Primary School.

She attended the Mount Gambier High School, before beginning work at 14.

Ms Pink married her husband Alan in 1963, the same year she began selling Tupperware.

This was just six years after the brand launched in Australia.

“I started selling, had to have six parties to begin with, got the company kit and away I went,” she said.

“I’ve travelled lots of kilometres and used 21 cars as a Tupperware agent, selling throughout the South East and was a manager for 40 years.”

Now at 80-years-old, Ms Pink still has more than 200 regular customers.

Rather than selling online, Ms Pink still preferred to host in person parties and attend markets.

“I don’t do a lot online, I would rather speak and show,” she said.

“Everyone knows you and you watch the little kids grow.”

Over the years, Ms Pink has received many accolades during a successful career as a Tupperware agent, including winning the top national award.

“I was one of the top agents in Australia for eight years, had lots of trips and went to every state for Tupperware conferences,” she said.

“I won many awards for selling lots of Tupperware as a successful agent.

“I outfitted and bought my house through Tupperware, that was my goal.”

Often known around town as The Tupperware Lady, Ms Pink said she did not have a favourite product, but loved them all.

“I’ve got lots and lots which I use all the time,” she said.

Aside from Tupperware, Ms Pink has been involved with the Borderline Speedway, East Gambier Football Club, In-Home Hospice Care and the Mother’s Day Classic.
