AN array of colourful painted rocks have been hidden among the popular Mount Gambier Railway Lands in an effort to spread positivity.

Mount Gambier North Primary School students painted more than 200 rocks for Harmony Day this year with positive messages on them.

The initiative was part of a whole school activity aiming to spread kindness and inspiration to the broader community.

A number of students took the rocks to the Railway Lands where they hid them along the track, hoping the community would find them.

The community is encouraged to keep the rocks and replace it with their own positive painted rocks.

Students Roya and Rohaiv said they enjoyed painting the rocks to make people feel “very happy”.

“It was part of Harmony Day, which we think is a good idea,” Roya said.

“We really enjoyed painting the rocks and we would paint happy faces and nice words like ‘don’t give up’ and ‘be happy’.”

Rohaiv said she enjoyed using the bright colours to help people who see the rocks feel happy.

“We needed to use the colour orange for Harmony Day,” Rohaiv said.

“We hid the rocks all around the Railway Lands which we really enjoyed doing because it was fun.”

The students hoped community members would pick up the rocks which would help them feel happier.
