CLIENTS receiving life-saving treatment will now be much more comfortable thanks to the Mount Gambier Cancer Support Group.

The support group recently donated Equagel cushions and electric heat packs to the oncology unit to help provide comfort to those in need.

Due to the ongoing support of Mount Gambier/Berrin businesses and community members, the support group were able to purchase the comfort items which will also help find veins and provide comfort for those receiving treatment.

Mount Gambier Cancer Support Group chairperson Lorraine Musgrove said the group sent an email to the oncology unit to see what was required for clients.

“We had a list and they suggested these so from some of the donations we received we purchased them for the unit,” Ms Musgrove said.

“We have a lot of businesses and community members supporting us so we use that to give back.”

She said upcoming fundraisers included a dinner at the Blue Lake Bar and Bistro as well as regular fundraising efforts.

“We will also keep in contact with the oncology unit to see if there are any more items which may be needed to make it easier for them to support their clients,” Ms Musgrove said.

“We would like to thank the community for all their support as it is so important for us to have that and be able to support the patients in the oncology unit.”

Other initiatives recently taken on by the cancer support group included purchasing and distributing food and fuel vouchers for those in need through the unit.
