Forest photography on display

STORIES: QR codes are displayed with each photograph where viewers can read student's stories.

VISITORS will be welcomed by a selection of forestry photography on display at the Mount Gambier Airport this month.

The selection of images are from OneFortyOne’s annual forest photography competition and viewers can find them in the gallery space tucked behind the boarding gates.

The display will be the last exhibition for the year for the 2023 competition entries, after spending time on display at the Riddoch Art Gallery.

OneFortyOne corporate affairs manager Charlene Riley said every year, the student stories are the best part of the photo competition.

“The stories are so involved and creative and by sharing the stories, we hope people feel more connected to our local forests,” she said.

She said the exhibition is a must-see for all kinds of visitors to the region.

“Whether you’re visiting the region for the first time like a grandparent visiting their new grandkids and delivering gifts from Santa, or you’re a hot shot lawyer from the big city returning to her quiet hometown to visit her family, and meet the country boy love of her life, for the holidays.”

Each print is accompanied by a QR code which takes viewers to a story written by the student photographer answering ‘what do you love about the forest?’

Ms Riley said OneFortyOne were pleased to have the support of the District Council of Grant in hosting the exhibition, allowing them to use gallery space at the airport.

The exhibition will be on display until December 22.

Students and families are invited to pick up their prints from the OneFortyOne office in Jubilee Highway after this date.
