A SOUTH East woman is making a mammoth trek, walking from Melbourne to Kingston SE for mental health.

Charlotte Northam will walk the 1200 kilometre journey to signify that, even when mental health makes things difficult, people can still “walk confidently along the road of life”.

Ms Northam said she aims to spread a message of hope and raise money for mental health services.

“I am doing this to show it’s okay to talk, even when it’s hard,” she said.

“It’s okay to share your experience, because someone, even if they don’t show it, will always be listening.”

Along the way, Ms Northam plans to speak to the people she meets to raise awareness on mental health.

As at midday on Tuesday, October 3, Ms Northam had raised $6,300.00, with funds going to mental health organisation SANE.

It is expected Ms Northam will arrive back in Kingston on October 14.
