AFTER a lot of hard work and great community support the new Limestone Coast Toy Library is set to open in Naracoorte this weekend.
President Karen Sebek said the committee were looking forward to seeing the doors open and people flock in for the first time.
“The opening of the toy library has largely been possible due to the generous grant we received from Toy Libraries Australia, the amazing public response for toy donations and our wonderful, hard working committee and volunteers,” she said.
“It’s very, very exciting, we’re looking forward to the grand opening.
“We’ve got all the toys cleaned, labelled and checked and we’re raring to go.”
She said the grand opening event would offer a great morning out for Limestone Coast families.
“We’ll have balloons and bubbles for the children and two or three activities,” she said.
“There will also be a coffee van there and ice cream.”
The library will offer a range of toys, which Ms Sebek said was thanks to great community support.
“We’ve got heaps of toys, heaps of puzzles and books, you name it we’ve got it,” she said.
“Transport toys, toys for the zero to two age range, games, heaps of toys.”
With about 350 toys in the collection so far Ms Sebek said they were still open to taking donations.
“Anyone who has some good quality pre-loved toys are most welcome, they could bring them on the open day, or during our opening hours.”
The grand opening will also be the first time the community will be able to become members, with a few options to suit everyone.
Membership options range from $15 for a fortnight to $60 per year, which would allow for four toys to be borrowed for a four week loan.
“For $60 you maybe get two decent toys if you bought them, whereas if you’re taking out every four weeks, it works out to 48 different toys in the year,” Ms Sebek said.
The library will be open on Tuesdays, Thursdays. and the first Saturday of each month.
The Limestone Coast Toy Library grand opening will be held on Saturday, 9 September, from 9am to 12noon at 14 Rolland Street, Naracoorte.
