A TEACHER is being celebrated after clocking up 30 years of service at St Martins Lutheran College.

Robyn Teakle was lauded for all she has given to the St Martins community since she began at the school in 1990.

Ms Teakle was presented with a gift and flowers from St Martins, with junior school students also taking her on a special scavenger hunt to mark the occasion.

She said she has truly enjoyed her time at St Martins over the last 30 years, from being a classroom teacher to head of junior school wellbeing.

“In the early days, it was so special being part of a small school, where everyone pitched in and helped out with everything from netball coaching, and singing carols from the back of a semi-trailer at Christmas time,” she said.

“On ‘my best school day ever’ the College community reminded me how important it is to keep it simple.

“One of the Year 4 classes sang a song to me about the messages I send to them, ‘work hard, be kind, have fun’, and I would have to say that is how I have gone about my teaching career.”

Ms Teakle said she is very thankful for all the support she has received from school leaders, colleagues, family and friends.

“It has been a real highlight and inspiration, being a part of a growing and flourishing school is very special and while the years have added up, I do still feel that I have a great deal to give to this community especially the students and staff,” she said.

St Martins deputy principal Kat Elliott said the celebration was an expression of how much Ms Teakle is valued by the community.

“Robyn brings many things to our College, including love and care for our students, energy and enthusiasm for great teaching and learning, and a great sense of joy and humour,” Ms Elliott said.

“Her 30 years of experience provides her with a wealth of knowledge and wisdom, guiding staff and students alike.”
