MUSIC was one way to stave off the winter blues for Serene Country Living, with the NDIS provider holding a concert for the participants at its day centre on Tuesday, June 13.

Kane Stuckey provided the music, performing acoustic renditions of well-known songs for Serene Country Living participants and staff alike.

Serene Country Living day centre team leader Ellie Nirera said it was something different they thought all could enjoy now that the weather was getting colder and wetter.

“Because it is winter, it is a struggle to get activities outside where it’s cold, so today we bring that warmth and calm environment while we enjoy good music,” she said.

Ms Nirera said it was also important to bring in new people to help those at the day centre get exposed to others in the community.

“For example, most of them have never met Kane,” she said.

“And he plays music and plays around, so being exposed to different people and things they enjoy in their daily lives, it brings everybody together.”

There were plenty of smiles and claps through the set, with Mr Stuckey taking the time to chat to his audience between songs.
