AN ADAPTATION of a 1929 novella will be hitting the stage at Mount Gambier / Berrin’s Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre later this month.

Slingsby Theatre Company is bringing Emil and the Detectives to the local stage for a one-off matinee performance.

Director Andy Packer said he is looking forward to sharing the excitement of the story and the stage with the audience.

“I love watching audiences of all ages losing themselves in the beauty and simple magic of this show,” he said.

“From ages eight to 80, this show seems to really connect people to a time and place that all too often seems just beyond reach – the freedom of childhood.”

Emil and the Detectives will be on stage from 1pm on Thursday, June 29.

Tickets can be booked at countryarts.org.au or at the venue.
