A new competition from The Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre will see a child’s artwork turned into a glass sculpture.

Running alongside the Abundant Wonder exhibition by glass artist Tom Moore the competition will see the imagination of a child come alive through glass.

Mr Moore said many of his works came from childhood memories and he was looking forward to seeing what children would create.

“Much of my work arises from the strange and delightful illustrations I saw as a child,” he said.

“These images cross-pollinated and began to grow with hybrid vigour!”

Riddoch acting manager Talie Teakle said it was exciting to see a touring artist engage with the community like this.

“To have one of Australia’s leading glass artists turn your child’s drawing into a real glass sculpture is such a unique opportunity,” she said.

In November last year Millicent Gallery hosted the Abundant Wonder exhibition and ran a similar competition, with eight-year-old Pensee Fox winning the contest.
