LIFELINE Australia recently celebrated its 60th anniversary, with past and present members from the South East team getting in on the fun.

A group of 10 staff and volunteers made their way to Government House in Adelaide for a reception hosted by Governor of South Australia Frances Adamson on March 23.

Lifeline South East chief executive Leah Griffin said the celebration was a great way to commemorate both the occasion and the work of volunteers and staff.

“It was a lovely celebration in recognition of the work, passion and selflessness that volunteers and staff put into Lifeline South Australia every day,” Ms Griffin said.

“It was an honour for myself, Lifeline board chair Hazel Rigby and our staff and volunteers to be included in celebrating Lifeline’s 60 years of hope.

“It was particularly special for our former board chair and former Lifeline Australia board member Allan Gray to be involved in celebrating the milestone.”

Ms Griffin said this year will also mark a significant milestone for Lifeline South East.

“[This] is a special year, not only for Lifeline Australia, but also for Lifeline South East,” she said.

“We will be celebrating Lifeline’s 60 year anniversary and Lifeline South East’s 40 year anniversary in July.

“We are currently in the process of planning the event.”

Lifeline has a network of 41 centres around Australia with around 11,000 staff and volunteers working to support people in crisis 24 hours a day.

The organisation answered 95,113 calls for help from people living in South Australia in 2022.
