Tree planting for Lions

PLANTED: Mayor Lynette Martin, Eric Roughana, president Stephen Bell, Fay Roberts, Malcolm Laslett, Robin Conboy, Graham Carter and Jill Austin.

Mount Gambier Lions have marked their 60th anniversary with a tree planting.

President Stephen Bell and Mayor Lynette Martin planted a tree for the Lions Club of Mount Gambier in the Elizabeth Knight Reserve last week.

The tree commemorates six decades of humanitarian service contributed by the club.

The club’s botanical advisor, Lion Robin Conboy, recommended the species of tree fit for the purpose – Corymbia Eximia Nana, commonly known as a Dwarf Yellow Bloodwood.

A mounted pink dolomite stone will be fitted with a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion..

The club is appreciative of the City of Mount Gambier staff for their cooperation and goodwill.
