Rotary Mount Gambier donates to Mayor’s Christmas Appeal

GENEROUS DONATION: Mayor Lynette Martin received the cheque from Rotary President, Pat McEwen and Treasurer, John Buchanan.

The Rotary Club of Mount Gambier has handed over $2500 towards the annual Mayor’s Christmas Appeal.

The money was raised from proceeds of sales at the Club’s Book Fair held at the City Hall in October this year.

A similar amount was also donated to the Australian Rotary Health Foundation to fund research into mental health issues in young people.

The annual Book Fair is the Rotary Club of Mount Gambier’s major fundraiser for the year.

The event also helps local people de-clutter their bookshelves, saves many thousands of books from being “dumped” and encourages children to take up reading, as all kids’ books at the Book Fair are free.
