HIGHLAND dance students from Mount Gambier have come away with multiple awards following dancing championships held in Adelaide.

Dancers from Bell Studio of Highland Dance headed to Adelaide over the weekend of September 17 and 18 for two different championships.

Bell Studio principal Katie Edwards said her students excelled and she was really proud of their efforts over the two days, with one student winning a state title.

“Every competition that I’ve seen them dance at, they’re getting better every time, so that’s probably what I’m most happy about to be honest,” Ms Edwards said.

“They’re doing really well, they’re progressing.”

She said it has been a little bit difficult getting back into the swing of competitions after a big break during the pandemic, but the students are loving it.

“They really missed the competition side of it because it is a lot of fun,” she said.

“Over that Covid period, they were doing more fine-tuning and trying to fix corrections, so then it’s trying to get all the fitness back.

“When you watch them now, you wouldn’t know that they’ve even had so much time off.”

The dancers all achieved individual success, including:
