MOUNT Gambier will have two events as part of one of the State’s largest winter festivals, the Umbrella Festival, which will run during July.

The Umbrella Festival program boasts more than 175 events being spread across regional towns and the metropolitan area.

Mount Gambier’s events include a 90’s music night featuring ‘My 90’s Mixtape’ at the Jens Hotel on Saturday, July 9.

Ellyana Sims will kick off the night followed by the popular interactive Australian music show, with a quiz element ‘My 90’s Mixtape’ fronted by Tamara Seeley.

The night will kick on with DJ Jase cranking out more 90’s tunes and there will be prizes for quiz winners and best dressed.

Another Mount Gambier event will be Fi and Frenz with their ‘Oops I Jazz’d it Again’ show which will be held at the Mount Gambier Bowls Club on Sunday, July 10.

The performance takes popular music from the last 30 years and presents it in a jazz style.

Made up of predominantly local musicians, Fi and Frenz has recently returned from the Adelaide Fringe season and are excited to present their show to the Limestone Coast community during the Umbrella Festival.

South Australian Minister for Arts Andrea Michaels said the Umbrella Festival was a key fixture for the State’s live music calendar and will serve local talent to crowds hungry for entertainment since Covid restrictions first hit.

“After what has been an incredibly tough couple of years for the local music industry, it’s so exciting to see live music back to revive pubs and performance venues across our city, our suburbs and our regions,” Ms Michaels said.

“Now in its seventh year, the festival has gone from strength to strength, despite the challenges the pandemic has thrown in its way.”
