SUMMER may mean regular changes to the Mount Gambier Covid-19 testing site opening hours.
Last Friday and Saturday, testing times were changed from the standard 8.30am to 4.30pm opening hours due to high temperatures.
The Mount Gambier Showgrounds Covid-19 testing clinic testing times became 6.30am to 10.30am and 5.30pm to 8.30pm to escape the worst of the heat, which reached 37.2 degrees on Friday and 31.3 on Saturday.
A representative from SA Health was unable to confirm if similar changes will be a regular occurrence going forward into the hottest period of summer.
“Conditions at testing sites are assessed on a case-by-case basis on days of extreme weather conditions and hours are modified as required to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff on site and the community,” the spokesperson said.
“We encourage people to check our social media channels regularly for updates on testing clinic hours.”
