Moderna rolls out in Limestone Coast

INDIVIDUALS aged 12 years and over can now access the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine through pharmacies in the Limestone Coast.

Five Mount Gambier chemists – Gambier City Chemmart Pharmacy, Priceline Mount Gambier, Priceline Pharmacy Marketplace, Star Discount Chemist Sturt Street, Chemist King Mount Gambier Gambier and Star Discount Pharmacy Mount Gambier – will deliver the Moderna vaccine to all people over the age of 12.

UFS Chemist Mount Gambier will join the rollout next week.

The Port MacDonnell Pharmacy, Robe Pharmacy and Naracoorte’s Kincraig Terry White Chemmart will also provide Moderna vaccinations.

Member for Barker Tony Pasin said the rollout of the Moderna vaccine will provide Limestone Coast residents more opportunity to receive the vaccine, including those aged between 12 to 15 years of age.

“Our local pharmacies are playing a key role in the vaccine roll out, stepping up to ensure our community is protected from Covid-19,” Mr Pasin said.

“I am hopeful that we will achieve the 80 per cent vaccination target as soon as possible so that the

damaging restrictions including lockdowns and lockouts can end and we can return to life as close to normal as soon as possible.”

Health Minister Stephen Wade said opening the eligibility of the Moderna vaccine to everyone aged 12 years and over through pharmacies would ensure the vaccine could be accessed to as many South Australians who would like to be vaccinated as soon as possible.

“Vaccination is our doorway out of the pandemic and the Marshall Liberal Government is determined to give every South Australian access to the lifesaving Covid-19 vaccine so we can keep our state safe and our economy strong,” he said.

“It is a credit to the industry that community pharmacies will now lead the distribution of the Moderna vaccine and, following the latest health advice, community pharmacies will now expand the offering of the Moderna vaccine to those aged over 60 years.”
