TWO Limestone Coast artists have received the opportunity to attend a three-day intensive program of workshops, forums, talks and networking opportunities in Adelaide’s main artistic scene.

Sally O’Connor and April Hague received confirmation they would attend Nebula 2021 following their successful application.

The event aims to nurture and extend creative arts practices and continue to build skills and knowledge to further assist recipients in the next stages of their career.

Ms O’Connor and Ms Hague will join six other successful applicants in Adelaide during the statewide South Australian Living Arts Festival with the view to cultivate relationships between fellow artists both regionally and from the metropolitan area.

Ms O’Connor felt humbled to be chosen for the event and said she looked forward to meeting other artists and mentors.

“The concept of the event was so exciting so I just had to apply,” Ms O’Connor said.

“I am very excited to participate because they are offering a number of workshops and providing opportunities to meet other artists, gallery curators and directors and mentors.”

Ms O’Connor said she had an interest in learning how to write about her own artwork and the do’s and dont’s of art etiquette.

“It is a wonderful opportunity for regional artists to have some doors open and to meet some people who will be able to answer some of our questions or point us in the right direction,” she said.

Ms Hague said she was thrilled to be selected, stating she looked forward to participating following positive feedback from previous attendees.

“I am super happy that I won a spot and although I already have painted around half a dozen murals across Mount Gambier I am excited to see where this opportunity takes me,” Ms Hague said.

“Through this event I will be able to have a sense of direction on where to go from here with my art because I have only ever trained as a high school art teacher, I never attended art school or anything like that so I am eager to be further immersed in the art scene in the city.”

Ms Hague said although she explored a range of different art styles, she was hoping this opportunity would clarify her main artistic skills.

The duo are planning to attend the three day event in mid-August in the heart of Adelaide during the statewide SALA Festival.
