Ground Breaking exhibition applications open

COUNTRY Arts SA’s highly successful visual arts professional development award Breaking Ground has opened applications for its 2021 exhibition.

The winner – announced in July – will receive $10,000 to develop a body of work for a solo exhibition at the Light Square Gallery during the 2021 South

Australian Living Arts Festival as well as a $5000 mentorship.

Country Arts SA chief executive Anthony Peluso said Breaking Ground was one of the organisation’s premier professional development opportunities and had become a distinguished award.

“Breaking Ground provides artists with the time and resources to develop new skills and extend their current practice,” Mr Peluso said.

“Presenting the final exhibition in Adelaide helps to broaden their audience outside of their home region.

“The calibre of the previous recipients confirms the quality of artists in our state and the strength of the award.”

The 2021 award recipient will be announced at the SALA launch and 2020 awards night in July.

Applications close May 20.
