City retailers to close doors

TWO Mount Gambier retailers have signalled they will close their doors in the coming months, joining Radio Rentals and Target in a series of closures across the city.

Factorie and The Reject Shop will both close in the coming months, impacting 15 staff across the two stores.

A Cotton On Group spokesperson this week confirmed Factorie’s Mount Gambier Marketplace outlet would close, affecting one full-time employee and four casual staff.

The spokesperson said the group “values the incredible contribution” the Mount Gambier team made to the local community.

“Our team members remain our number one priority and we are working closely with them to identify opportunities for their redeployment within the business.

“As always, we continue to look at ways to improve our store footprint across the markets we operate in to better serve our customers in locations and across channels that work for them.”

A Reject Shop spokesperson said the 10 staff at the Mount Gambier store had been notified it will close in June, with the majority casual employees.

“A majority of our staff are employees, with discussions being held with staff about redeployment options,” they said.

“Where this is not possible, desired redundancies come into play.”
