Variety conference to honour Australian contributors

VARIETY – the Children’s Charity of South Australia – will host the 78th annual Variety International Conference, celebrating Variety’s 90th year, from May 2 to 5 in Adelaide.

Established in 1928, the charity has a long and vibrant history of granting equipment and services to sick, disadvantaged or special needs children, including South East recipients, helping them live life to the fullest.

The conference will bring together respected experts including Google innovator Justin Baird, forensic investigator turned author Peter Baines, world-renowned development leader Sean Conley and savvy business-minded Maz Farrelly and Alison Black.

More than 100 volunteers, staff and members from Variety’s 44 offices in 13 countries will attend the conference to learn about critical trends in medical science and assistive technologies.

This training will ensure Variety delivers happiness, independence, self-esteem, mobility, communication and long-term well-being outcomes in an effective and sustainable way.

Three Australians will be recognised for their contributions for children during the annual humanitarian awards dinner at Mount Lofty House.

Moira Kelly AO will receive the 2018 Variety Humanitarian Award, Peter Cochrane OAM will receive the Catherine Variety Sheridan Award and Dr Susan Beal AM will receive the Sir James Carreras Award.
