Anglican senior bishop visits region

ARCHBISHOP Philip Freier, Primate of the Anglican church in Australia, presided over four confirmations at a packed service at Christ Church Mount Gambier last Sunday.

The Sung Eucharist and confirmation was the main focus of a three day visit by the Primate who was joined in Mount Gambier by Bishop John Ford, Bishop of the Diocese of the Murray.

Doctor Freier also visited Parish churches at Mount Schank and Port MacDonnell and conducted a meeting of Prayer for World Peace at which most Christian churches in Mount Gambier were represented.

He held a forum discussing various aspects of the Anglican church and a number of one-on-one meetings with parishoners and volunteers at various church mission activities including ac.care and the Bell Tower Op Shop.

The Greek Orthodox church leader The Right Reverend Patsouris was marking nearly half a century of visiting Mount Gambier from Adelaide to conduct services for his hundred or so church people in the region at the weekend.

In an ongoing inter-church fellowship, the Christ Church parish has worked with the Greek Orthodox church for 48 years to ensure it can have a church in which to hold its services.

Bishop Patsouris met both visiting Anglican Bishops at the conclusion of his own service on Saturday.
