Gastro outbreak at Boandik

AGED care provider Boandik has been hit with a number of salmonella gastroenteritis cases at its Lake Terrace site.

Four residents living at the site have been affected with the illness since April 3.

The aged care provider has provided information to residents, their families and staff alerting them to the recent cases at the Lake Terrace, Boandik Kessal and Boandik Sutton sites.

“We are working with SA Health to investigate the source of the salmonella,” Boandik chief executive officer Gillian McGinty said.

“Of those affected, one person has been hospitalised and the remaining residents are recovering at Boandik, under the care of their general practitioner.

“The health and welfare of our residents is our priority and we will continue to cooperate with SA Health as they work to identify the source.”

If anyone has any concerns or requires further information, call Ms McGinty on 8725 7377.
