Prescribed burn to take place south of Glencoe

FORESTRY SA will carry out prescribed burn operations at Honan Native Forest Reserve tomorrow, weather permitting.

The burn will take place 4km south of Glencoe on the western end of Stringybark Road, across 70 hectares of native bushland.

Operations will be carried out by ForestrySA staff in conjunction with crews and appliances from the Department of Water and Natural Resources, OneFortyOne Plantations and the Country Fire Service.

The burn is set to begin at 11am and conclude at 8pm, with fire crews to remain on patrol in the area until it is safe to leave.

Smoke will most likely be visible from across the Glencoe district, as well as the Princes Highway between the Kangaroo Flat and Springs Roads.

Prescribed burning reduces forest fuel loads, significantly reducing the intensity of a bushfire and risk of damage to homes, property and biodiversity.

All ForestrySA burns are carried out by experienced fire management staff in accordance with strict guidelines.

A burn may be delayed or postponed if weather conditions prevent it from being carried out safely.

For your own safety, please remain clear of the site during and after the burning operations.
