LSEBA: Henderson claims 100-up honours

100 PERCENT: Roma Henderson performed well in the Port MacDonnell women’s 100 up competition recently, claiming the win for the event over Lyn Vanderley in the final clash.

PORT MacDonnell Bowling Club held its women’s 100 up competition recently, with Roma Henderson claim the honours over Lyn Vanderley in the final match.

After winning the semi final clash against Elaine Pruis due to some steady bowling which saw her come back from behind with a 101-89 shot victory, Henderson progressed to the final.

Vanderley accounted for Joy Bilney in the semi finals, after two shots separated the two at the 15-end mark.

However, Vanderley went on to take the win, 101-89.

The final match saw Henderson hold the lead by a few shots throughout, with a couple of bad ends from Vanderley seeing her down by 21 shots after 14 ends.

From there Vanderley hit back and was able to score 19 shots to Henderson’s 20, but it was not enough to take the lead.

Henderson took out the honours with a final score of 101-78.

Social bowls

THE social bowls competition saw 28 players contest for the win at the Port MacDonnell Bowling Club.

At the end of play there were four teams who had recorded two wins for the event.

The winning team was Des Meyers and Ron Cox, who finished with 57 points, while Peter Bruhn and John King came in as runners-up with 56.

Heather Richards and Rod Sutton rounded out the podium with 54 points, with Chris Wilkinson and Geoff Ward coming in third on 53.
