Delays south of Adelaide

MOTORISTS south of Adelaide are advised there are traffic restrictions on the Dukes Highway after two trucks collided near Coonalpyn overnight.

Just after 2.30am two semi-trailers travelling in opposite directions collided on the Dukes Highway about 5km south of Coonalpyn.

One semi trailer carrying alcohol heading to Melbourne flipped and caught fire shortly after impact.

The driver, a 42-year-old man from Queensland was treated at the scene for leg injuries and then airlifted to the Flinders Medical Centre in a stable condition, the injuries are no considered life-threatening.

The other driver a 34-year-old man form Victoria who was driving a refrigeration truck escaped with minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

A large quantity of bulk spirits believed to be bourbon and whisky spilled onto the highway after the crash.

The highway is now open with speed restrictions in place, but is expected to be closed later this morning when a crane will be used to right the truck.

Expect delays if driving in the area or take an alternative route via Meningie.
